Over heating is caused by either inefficiency in the cooling system or the
engine locally over heating the coolant.
I assume there is no water loss, if so source the leak before doing any of
the suggestions below.

Cooling system inefficiency could be caused by:
Poor radiator - usually blocked tubes. (Clean or replace radiator core)
Malfunctioning thermostat.(replace thermostat)
Worn water pump or slipping fan belt. (Tighten fan belt/replace water pump)

Engine overheating the coolant is generally caused by:
Non operating thermostat (replace);
A blown head gasket (remove head and check for flatness then replace with
new head gasket).
Or a cracked cylinder head (repair crack or replace cylinder head)
Retarded spark (adjust distributor)
