Dan,

One of the guys I race with has this engine in a N14 Pulsar. The thing goes like a scalded cat and still runs the factory computer! The only mod he has made is a set of vernier cam sprockets. He had some trouble with tuning at one stage due to the VVT, so what they have done is made the VVT switchable from inside the car. He has a switch on the dash, which changes the cams - even at idle - sounds wild. He leaves it on the "standard" cams while it is idling/warming up and then about half way through the warm up lap he switches it to the bigger cams. I think it makes about 140-145 bhp at the front wheels. Impressive engine, and very competitive considering the car weighs 1075kg.

Mark.

The VVT engines sound like a lot of fun in a 1600, 180Kw is damn impressive for a NA 2 litre. From my understanding the valve timing is hydraulicly powered but actuated by an ECU ground, so a quality aftermarket ECU might extract a few extra Hp ??Anyone..?
