is the hole on kinda a raised out lump?? if so this is the sump/block breather, as i said b4 not needed to have a hose running from it, on standard cars it runs back to the inlet manifold and goes thru the engine and out exhaust i beleive, mine was disconnected for ages, i only reconnected it because my engine became smokey and isnt pleasent to drive with a cabin full of exhaust smoke. However u will need to connect it for a roadworthy if you get a tightarse guy.
