Just from looking at the diagram, wouldnt it be the smaller the
backspace the bigger the caliper can be? Simply because B+C = Backspace
and from the diagram B looks to be the part between the offset and the
inside edge of the wheel.

cheers Chris, that is great.
So the bigger the backspace the thicker, fatter the calipers can be?

A = overall rim width
B = Offset
B+C = backspace.

yeah thanx for that Terry.
I am not sure what the last measurement is but it seems pretty important
when fitting bigger calipers.. I read the article and it was fairly
informative. Thankyou.
the offset is the difference of the backspace and total rim width? with
the centre of the rim being 0 offset???
So if i have an offset which pushes the mounting point of the hub/wheel
further out from the car it means the wheel may touch the strut etc,
however if i go the other way the wheel may touch the guards?
The problem i have now is finding a wheel with a centre mounting point
which is raised above the front of the wheel. So i can mount a caliper
which will not touch on the front of the rim's face. Know of any off the
top of your head Terry?
cheers again
