Mark, If the dowel is big enough, try drilling and tapping a thread into it, and then screwing a bolt into the dowel, which will give you something better to pull it out with.
Alternatively, drill it out as close to the gearbox case as you can without damaging it, then you should find it will come out easily (unless it is ceased in place). The engine one is sticking out about 15mm, and would be easy to take out, except the engine is still in the car so i dont have enough room to yank it out. The gearbox dowel is only sticking out about 2 or 3 mm so this is bloody hard to grip too..... any ideas?? I need one of the dowels out but neither of them are easy, does anyone have a trick to getting these out, or any suggestions at all???
