Heath,

The 1200 Coupe has a pulse tacho just the same as a 1600SSS and from my
experience with FJ's you don't always have to connect this sort of tacho to
the EMS ignition control wire. Having said that I've never had the
opportunity to look at a CA18 Turbo up close to know much about how the
electrics work. Still, you should be able to use the ignition wiring from
the EMS to the CA18 coil pack to trigger the tacho. Even if you have had to
wire in completely new ignition wiring, then my instructions on how to wire
in an impulse tacho on a 1600 should still work. Complications arise if the
engine has a multi-coil setup, on these you have to know if all of the coils
fire together or individually (usually from a CAS input). If the CA18 is
wired like this then you have to identify the wire that triggers the ignitor
module as it will be the only wire that pulses for every cylinder.

Andrew, if you're reading can you add anything to this that's particular to
the CA18.

regards
Terry
