I have AC in my 200B and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get better
performance out of it especially in hot conditions. It is gassed up and I
know the gas works fine because in the shade I can get the air temp coming
out of the vents to -1 degrees C. But in the sun on a hot day with a hot
engine bay it will barely make 13 deg C.
My setup is a Bluebird compressor and condensor, and a 200B aftermarket
evaporater. I have the condensor mounted in front of the radiator, with a
single electric fan on the driver's side of the evaporator. Behind it is
about a 2 inch gap and then the radiator, and another 4 inches lies the 4
blade engine fan. I have a fan shroud but I didn't seem to get any better
cooling with it so I took it off.
The pipes to and from the compressor are rubber ones, and the rest are
alumiun. None of my pipes have insulation.
Should I insulate the piping, and rearange my fan setup? I can't fit 2 fans
to the front of the condensor because there is some piping and the dryer in
the way at the front (stupid 200B setup) so I'm thinking of moving the
radiator back an inch or so, and mounting twin fans on the back of the
condensor, and still keep the engine fan for the radiator.
The only problem with my setup is that the engine gets really hot in summer,
(over 200 deg F sometimes) and thats highway travelling.
