G'day All, I'm curious about a few things with regards to DIY turboing a car (L24).
1. Is it possible to buy turbo flanges (and gaskets) for welding up ex manifold and dumppipe? Where from? 2. What metal is best to make the ex manifold from? Steam pipe? What is that? Or is there some heat-treatment you can do on regular steel afterwards? 3. Is there any special welder requirements to weld any of theses special metals? A stdish MIG be ok? 4. Where is the best place to take the oil feed line from? Does this require a pump? 5. Ditto for water. Does it use the same water pump as the engine? 6. How would one go about getting the flange for the head? Simple as getting some thick flat and putting holes in the appropriate place I assume? Is it advised to get the flanges machined flat after welding to account for heat-flex? 7. How effective is HPC coating of ex manifold? Anyone had any experiences with this?
