Yes you can put whatever gearbox you like behind ANY motor. You just need a bellhousing to suit & possibly a modified flywheel/clutch. I have heard of people cutting 2 different bellhousings in half and tig welding the two parts together. Anything is possible if you have the dollars.
I do not know of anyone breaking a standard 5 speed SRdet gearbox yet... I'm sure it can be done with enough abuse but they are pretty tough.
