Mark, I can sympathise with you, I have had 2 fully restored Datto 1600�s knocked back, they go a little overboard in my opinion. In the main their intentions are good and we all want a safe car to drive.
My drama�s were with front seats and rear mounting points, but this has been discussed on here at length and we can�t see what they were complaining about �. I complied in the end, was a lot less stressful than trying to argue a point I was never going to win. With regard the braided hose, they are right in this case, I don�t know how much room you have in the engine bay, but why not investigate the possibility of placing a heat shield between the turbo and the pipe ???
