matt,
Any L series alternater should bolt up, but you would have to leave disconected most of the wiring to youre old alt because the bosch one will have an internal reg.
so just bolt on the thick battery wire to the new alt like it was to the old one and im pretty sure once you rev the engine past about 3 it would switch itself on to charge and this would get you out of trouble.
but what you want is to hook up the negative side of your alt light to the field connection at the back of the alternater, its a splade connection at a right angle next to another splade and it should be marked F. you sould be able to find the neg of the light on the dash whithin the old alt wires (when you earth it with ignition on the alt light will come on ) otherwise any 2-10W bulb hooked up to ign on one side of it and the F at the alternater will fire it up, ive probly made it sound hard but your new alt only needs 2 wires hooked up and are heaps better and more reliable .
keep up the good Datsun work!
Mark
