The problem with most of the Viri getting around the net via email attachments today is that don't come from who they say they do as some clever little prick has worked out how to change the SMTP header information, eg a message is posted from the infected computer, call them Person A to Person B but it appears to come from Person C - they get their kicks out of Person C being blamed by Person B for sending an email containing a virus. The way that it works is it picks email addresses out of Person A's address book, in this example both Person B and Person C have been in contact with Person A at some point in time. The infected computer is using Outlook Express as their mail client, and they haven't downloaded the patch from microsoft.com. I was blamed for sending a virus to the Bluebirds list over the holidays, pretty impressive seeing is how my computer wasn't even turned on for two weeks - still, you should have read some of the hate mail I was getting.
The only Geordie in Datto land that I know of is on the SR Transplants list but it is very unlikely that he is infected, more than likely someone on here who talks to both lists is infected - also as they got infected in the first place, they use Outlook Express and don't wear a condom. regards Terry -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Rick White Sent: Tuesday, 25 February 2003 11:07 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: virus I get about two viruses a day from [EMAIL PROTECTED] , the good thing is that my internet account always catches them, sends me a warning, and sends them a email, saying they are infected. I also got one the other day from one signed Gordie. I couldn't remember wether I knew of a Gordie, and he has been on tonight with that same signiture. So Gordie run a virus checker will you. Later.
