Thanks heaps for that Mark, we’ve pulled it apart and the wires seem fine, but I haven’t actually pulled it apart and seen the circuit board you talk about yet.  Is that a standard serial cable circuit board or is that something special that Wolf 3D have made to interface with the computer?

Cheers

Daniel

hi,first up , in the db25 pin connector is a tiny circuit board with a diode and several 1/8 watt resisters.

this  comes apart very easy.

but with every thing  back together , and with  a multimeter  on the continunity range,

i found the following( i doubled checked with the  probes swapped around, and the results are the same).

the following  i think would only be helpfull in finding a break in the wire:

nc= not connected.

pin 1 on the 15 pin =nc

pin2  on the 15 pin =nc

pin3 on the 15 pin=nc

pin4 on the 15 pin  goes to pin 13 on the 25 pin connector

pin5 on the 15 pin =nc

pin6 on the 15 pin =nc

pin7 on the 15 pin =nc

pin8 on the 15 pin=nc

pin9 on the 15 pin=nc

pin 10 on the 15 pin goes to pins 18 and 19 on the 25 pin connector

pin 11 on the 15 pin=nc

pin 12 on the 15 pin =nc

pin13 on the 15 pin=nc

pin 14 on the 15 pin =nc

pin15 on the 15 pin=nc

the components in th e 25 pin  connector would show different readings between the pins on the 25 pin end only.

hope this helps.

Subject: Wolf 3D version 4.0 tuning Cable

Hey guys and gals,

My mate has a problem with his data cable that goes between a lap top and the computer.  What I’m hoping to find out is the what pins on one end correspond to the pins on the other so we can test the continuity to make sure that the cable hasn’t crapped out.  I would use mine but its about a 10hr drive away and a bit of a pain to obtain on short notice,

Any help would be appreciated,

Daniel Kroehn
