You may be able to trace the origins of both gearboxes on the web. There
used to be a site listing all Datsun/Nissan Gearboxes and their ratios.
On ratios, the second box has "higher" and closer ratios, so it would be a
better box for circuit racing. My guess would be the closer ratios would be
better overall, as these ratios would help keep a modified engine in its
(narrower) power band.
I cant advise you on the better box for drag racing. My guess is the higher
ratio gearbox would be slower off the start with the higher first gear and
may convert to a slower time over the quarter?

i need some info on gearbox.i have two gearbox with me now.the one on the
car has the ratio's,1st-3.57,2nd-2.24,3rd-1.41,4th-1to1.
the other gearbox has the ratio's of,1st-3.38,2nd-2.00,3rd-1.31,4th-1to1.
which one will be better for 1/4 mile with a didd ratio of 4.1 and trye
size 175/70/13.
