You make a lot of sense Brad.
Get rid of all those old Volvos by rallying them I say! Enjoy destroying
them!

Yes, a Datto 1600 was a top rally car, and still would be in the right
company (non turboed, 2 WD's). But why would you slowly destroy a
collectors item trying to stay with 30 year younger technology, in a car
that appreciates with age if kept in good nick?

Old WRX's are also an option too - their price second hand is getting closer
to the same relative price that a '70 Datto 1600 was when Geoff Portman won
the ARC in his 1600, in 1978. Does anyone you reckon you could win an ARC
round in $15000 '94 WRX?

And a question: Do you wear a hat and tie when rallying in your Volvo?

this Volvo will be slower but I know I will have less trouble if I bend
this, and I think mechanically I am less likely to!
