1 I pulled the struts from a 280ZX. It had an open R180 diff so I left
it in the car.

2 I recently had ride in and a quick look at an R200 long nose diff
installed in a 1600. I was advised that basically it bolted in after some
modifications to the mostache bar mounting bolts, swap the front flange
drive, plus fitting of 240Z (uni joint) driveshafts in lieu of the CV
jointed originals. I t was explained to me that the 240 Z driveshafts were
used because these use the same retention sytem (circlip?) at the diff end
as the CV type? and bolt up to the 1600 driveshafts at the outer end. Is
this so?

>From brief observation, the R200 diff is much bigger (and heavier) than an
R180, and has a more "spherical looking" rear cover than an R160/180. It
really drags down the rear of a 1600 with stock rear springs.
