At least once you've googled the solution (i.e. run as root) to the glassfish gem blowing up with "the domain directory is not writable" when started, which is a bug that goes back to April. https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=4606 Something else: Has anyone done any benchmarks? A simple hello world app is very slow on my machine; about 1/5 of the req/s compared to MRI + Thin.
