jQuery is a really elegant piece of technology. It presents a
nifty DSL to the application developer and (according to one
of my friends who has studied it) the internals are VERY cool.
I found both of these books to be readable and informative:
"jQuery in Action", by Bear Bibeault & Yehuda Katz
"Learning jQuery", by Karl Swedberg & Jonathan Chaffer
There is also a "jQuery Reference Guide", by Karl Swedberg and
Jonathan Chaffer, which may be a handy adjunct to the docs.

P.S. Given Yehuda's connections to both jQuery and Merb, I'd
expect jQuery and Merb to play nicely together for the
foreseeable future. :)
