Even so, I'm fairly certain many of your issues would be solved if you used it with datamapper. There doesn't even appear to be sequel specific tests with merb-fixtures.
Unless the issue is that you assume that merb-fixtures is a supported part of the merb framework? Because I don't believe it is. If it isn't in the official merb and merb-plugins repos it probably isn't.
