Stop stampeding. THAT'S your problem. You're flailing around, you're going in a bunch of different directions whenever anyone says something new and then complaining that it didn't get you anywhere... But nobody here has any idea what your destination is. No one knows where you're trying to go. I have my doubts whether YOU know. What's your destination, Philp? What do you want to build with Merb?
