Because half of Merb has the training wheels on, and the other half is a solid 
rocket booster strapped to a skateboard.

Recursively remove gems/gems and gems/specifications. Then, maybe, run thor 
merb:gem:redeploy , or merb:gem:install , or merb:gem:reinstall.

Then set the top lines of config/dependencies.rb to the versions you already 
have.

Also, you will get very little help using Windows around here, when not all the 
Plugins du Jour support it. The advice which I shall probably take soon is to 
back up all my Vista toys, install Ubuntu, get a dual boot going, and get that 
SRB back under me where it belongs. (-:
