As Chuck said, beef, pork and chicken are big biz in HI. The Parker ranch
IN HI and the King Ranch in TX are the 2 largest ranches in the USA, if not
the world. The Dairy industry is also alive there. Huli Huli Chicken!
Spam was around before WWII, but was not a big deal. After the attack on
Pearl Harbor, most of the local beef, pork and chicken was diverted for
military use. The locals were supplied with Spam. After 4 years of forced
Spam diet, Spam became part of the Hawaiian culture and food.
