All the oil starts out in the York compressor, that's why the shop  manual 
gives you the 280 Gram initial charge, or about 9.8  Ounces.   After the system 
has stabilized you will find that about 80  gm has left the compressor and 
will remain in circulation somewhere.
 
!.2   Kg of freon 12 would be about 40 ounces, or 3 of the 14  ounce cans 
allowing for a little loss while charging.
