On my 123 coupe the stabilizer holds the upper control arms in position. Without it, the camber/caster changes continuously. I drove it a little while like that, and it was not much fun and certainly NOT SAFE. For me changing it was about a 20 hour job. IIRC, the 126 chassis has the stabilizer bar between two firewalls and not only does everything have to come off of the firewall, the firewall itself has to be removed... ugh. Rick Knoble 1985 300 CD
