They could learn something from Honda, if that's their goal. The alternator replacement procedure for my old Civic started with "remove driver's side drive axle." The alternator replacement on the Malibu would have been a pain if I'd needed a new belt, but I didn't, so it was one of the easiest jobs I've done in ages. Less work than an oil change.
