The high compression Euro 117.96x engine in the 500s developed 231 DIN hp/405 Nm torque vs an early lower compression (9:1) US 117.968 KAT of the 560 that developed 242 DIN hp/390 Nm (later higher compression -10:1- 279 hp/430 Nm). That's according to the '85 & '88 TDMs
