I'll check that. I am pretty sure all that is ok. It did the same thing on the old engine, and still does it with the new engine. When it glows, it lights right off. It is wonderful to have a high compression OM 616 engine!

I've had for lack of a better word "wacky" pre-glow times on my 77 240D. I found a couple of days ago that the wire going to the temp sensor at the block (the front of the two temp sensors, between glow plugs #1 and #2) had come off. I soldered the wire back onto the plug and all of a sudden my pre-glow works as it should -- long at first start of the morning (but not overly long) and then quick on and then light off at subsequent starts through the day. So, you might want to take a look at that sensor and see if maybe the wire is corroded or maybe in the process of breaking.
