I am not an expert on this subject, but I do not see how you can damage
the transmission since it is not connected mechanically to the engine.

But, if it's an auto trans, and the engine is siezed, you might damage
the
tranny that way. I might be tempted to try it, but I'd slide the lever
back to neutral pretty quick if the engine weren't turning.
