A reasonable person would figure the UVW would give a holla' to the the dealers up north with a request to clear the Vancouver dealers overload of TDI, thereby allowing VVW to take delivery of new model 06 cars, and UVW sells the stuff the canadians are not moving. That is just me thinking logical. I know logic has no place in cars.

Exactly, it's absolutely insane: University VW (in
Seattle) confirmed there are no new '05 TDI Passat
wagons West of the Rockies, and only "a few" left East
of 'em; this is in the US, however - North of the
border, I easily found three Vancouver, BC area
dealers each with multiple '05 TDI Passat Wagons in
stock! The most plausible hypothesis I hear
consistently is that they underestimated US demand,
can't meet it, and want to make sure they keep their
existing TDI customers in the rest of the world happy,
so we get the short end of the stick. Bummer for us,
and poor planning on their part, but I can't say as I
blame 'em.

I guess I'm really outta the loop here, I thought
they were going to
ramp up tdi sales throughout the model range, given
their increasing
popularity. Seems silly to nix the new Passat tdi,
which by all
accounts is a stellar vehicle.

They are classic performers. Underappreciated,

This, of course, being a less cynical answer. And
to answer Casey's question,
dealers have mentioned it, and it's been the buzz
in the TDI community for
a while.
