Re: [MBZ] Note to Lt. Don + Peak Oil (was Re: US vs. Canada)Mac, Use a blend of 75-80% Filtered WVO and 20% or so of Kerosene to thin the oil(I added some gasoline and diesel fuel conditioner to each batch if I had it around)....Mix it VERY well and dump it in the tank during warm weather. I put SEVERAL thousand miles on that Ole 240D running a blend and it works great with NO HEAT. It cost me a total of around $50 for fuel in that car all of last summer. And I drove it ALOT! The 240 runs smoother, quieter, smokes less, runs just as good, if not better and smells GREAT when running. makes ya hungry while driving...LOL. The VW's don't have nearly as robust of an injection pump as the Mercedes and don't tolerate unheated oil nearly as well. If you want to be more sure of the results buy an inline fuel heater and put it near the injector pump to be sure it doesn't get thick oil to the pump. IT WILL BREAK THE GEAR RIGHT OFF THE END OF THE PUMP IF YOU TRY THIS IN COLD WEATHER! Before everyone starts yelling at me for suggesting this to Steve.....I have done this myself with the car that Steve now owns and it does work. I am not suggesting anyone not willing to take a few chances with thier car try this!!

I applaud you for doing it, and I may try it as well, if I can afford to buy a kit (or properly copy one). My point is that the petrodollar industry won't stand by and watch it for long, if it starts to get too popular. Not in the sense of you or me going to the WongWoo and collecting eggroll WVO. But sooner or later someone will start small businesses to supply it, maybe even mid-sized regional fuel distributors might jump in. Can we guess what happens next? Soft words are spoken in private clubs, in the shadow of Capitol Hill, or Parliament Hill, need for regulation, need for standards, workplace safety issues, horror stories of bad WVO fuel suddenly find their way to newsrooms on a slow news week -- blah, blah, blah. Next thing you know the EPA finds some way to stick in its snout. Please tell me I'm wrong, someone, but I don't see this WVO thing lasting long in its current form. Plus there are some alarming noises (no pun int) over on one of the VW diesel lists of injection pump destruction from running unheated WVO. Honestly I have not followed it in detail, seeing as I'm not ready to try it by a long shot. Mac
