Obviously different but that's based only on my experience. The 944 has unique handling characteristics due to its 50/50 weight ratio. And the 300E unique handling characteristics due to its very rigid body, unique front end geometry and 5 link rear suspension.
They are close on the highway & regular driving around town but the similarity stops when you push them through curves at any speed.
