     83 Toyota Diesel Truck with Mercedes engine

This is a 1983 Toyota pickup truck, with a 6-inch lift and air shocks.

It runs and drives well, the brakes work, and all lights and signals
function properly. The tires are new (BF Goodrich 35" all-terrain) and
have good tread. The engine is a 3-liter, 5-cylinder, turbo-charged
Mercedes diesel motor with roughly 125 horsepower. The truck was
originally a 4-wheel drive vehicle. It still has the front axle and
propeller shaft, but the truck is not currently set up for 4-wheel
drive, but could be modified.

The Good:

* new tires and aluminum rims
* good Mercedes 3L turbo motor
* good automatic transmission
* new front brake pads and rear brakes have been totally redone
* new rear axle bearings and seals
* six-inch lift and air-adjustable shocks
* new windshield and Mercedes wipers
* full instrumentation
* the engine does not require a computer; it is totally mechanical
* new drive shaft and mounts

The Not-so-Good:

* no a/c
* brake reservoir cover missing
* front axle stabilizer is not attached, but as far as I can tell, it
hasn't made any difference
* door panels are missing and window rollers are missing (all these can
be purchased after-market)

This car is a 1983 truck with many miles. I drove it to and from work
every day for a year, and I've never had a mechanical failure.

If you glow the truck for about 15 seconds, it will start on the first
crank. It has plenty of power and the automatic transmission works fine.
This truck is not a 2009 Toyota Tundra. It's driving characteristics
resemble something out of Mad Max, but I would drive it any where, any
time, any distance. Being that this truck is high off the ground and
generally light, it has unique driving characteristics, but I've never
had a problem keeping it on the road. I drove it during the winter and
in the ice and everything seemed fine. I would drive it right now out of
state and feel safe doing so.

This truck does not come with a spare tire. As far as maintenance goes,
it will need a few things in the near future: a break reservoir cover,
fluids change, and a valve adjustment. Depending upon the height of the
suspension and how heavy your foot is, this truck gets between 23 and 30
mpg. Currently, the exhaust is vented through the top of the hood
because that's the way I like it. But if you loosen the 3 bolts on the
manifold, you can make it go through the bottom like it used to be.

The truck is located in the east part of Fort Worth, near I-30 and Loop
820.
