It's not in the hub, it's on the axle shaft. It woudn't budge when heated red hot with a propane torch. The rear axles on a K-car are welded to a flat plate, just long enough to mount the wheel on. They bolt to the sheet metal and torsion bar axle under the car. A weld bead might fracture the race, but the axle is still junk.
The new one cost me maybe $50, and used ones are non-existant -- they make perfect trailer axles!
