Looked around when mine went bad. Talked to a few rebuilders, and most
of them claimed it took more than just replacing the wires to really
rebuild them. Most included changing out the pots as well. They were
probably just blowing smoke, but since mine was making really nasty
squealing noises when cold, I elected to go rebuilt. For $425 I got a
unit that looked like new, and have had no problems now for ~15K
miles.

The rebuilder's name escapes me now, but I found them by searching
Mercedesshop and going with the one a couple of other guys
recommended.
