Dad bought a small 3 gal. horizontal tank Craftsman just over a year ago. Nice compressor, I think he spent just over $100. The idea was it to stay at camp for inflation duties there and maybe an impact gun or something. Its also used for blowing out the water lines when we winterize my grandmother's house. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00915310000P
It replaced a tool show (Cummins maybe?) pancake comressor that was crap. Cheap and you got what you paid for... He's put new orings in it twice now but as its an oilless it just eats them. The Craftsman was stolen from camp sometime this summer. I'm going to replace it with a Harbor Freight (should be fine for the useage). They've got both oilless and oiled, I'm thinking oilled http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94724 For the price I think I'll get one for me too. I checked 'em out last time I was down there and they seem adequate. You want something more serious, for the price this is hard to beat: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93271 -Curt Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2008 18:32:29 -0400 From: "LarryT" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [MBZ] Buying Air Compressor - NPC - NFC - NMC - OT To: "911/993/996 digest" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, "The FerrariList" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hello, About to buy a new air compr for for my home garage. Will paint and use air tools some. Looking for a vertical Compr. to have its smaller footprint but if there's a reason to avoid it I will. I read the owners comments on Sears site and some people had absolutely terrible experiences - brand new AC's sparked and spit fire! not what you'd expect - and this happened several times. Looking for suggestions of brands you had good or bad experiences with - and if you'd buy it again. My Campbell-Hausfield AC has a motor that is locking up & kicking the breaker - I will try to free up the motor and give it to my son.
