The way to do it would be to take out all the dodgy bits and replace them with a little programmable chip with proper sensors and actuators. Wasn't someone looking at doing that? I really doubt if it would be that hard to do if you knew some programming and electronics. I am trying to learn that stuff slowly. I bought a couple of little programmable controllers, gonna start playing with them soon. I see some of the stuff people have just hacked up for fun, and controlling an A/C system does not seem particularly difficult in comparison.

Haven't had a 124 yet, but nothing can be worse than either type of AC that
was in 123's. That is what stinks about 123s in the desert. They're a notch
above having a bone stock '67 Beetle or a '64 Squareback.

There are companies out there {Vintage Aire for one} that make turnkey A/C
systems for hot rods. Maybe a market for them to make retro air systems using
modern components for our cars.
I always considered my self lucky, my 300SDL had cold air despite the fact that
it had been converted to 134a.
