Biden has been in the Senate for decades, he's "well known" to the media, while most of the media probably could not have named the Governor of Alaska prior to this fall. That is at least part of it, but I think your point is still valid. When I heard that Obama had picked the disgraced plagiarizer Biden I laughed out loud. I mean come on, what a recycled multi-time loser he has been with his own presidential aspirations. He has been rejected time and again in his own parties primary process.
