Ich war auf Deutschland und ZWIEBEL ist "ssveebel" in
transliteration .... "ie" is a dipthong where the second vowel takes
control. In english an example would be "chief"....
Notwithstanding some memory loss during the 50 odd years since I was
in Germany......
