Don, A software client of mine is a major water filter distributor. I suggest you check with them before buying any water filters. They all sell the same stuff and Mark Powers has been in the business for many years.
I wrote this article for them & posted it on their web site, which is also my design. http://markpowers-and-company.com/WaterFilterQA.htm Thanks, Tom Hargrave www.kegkits.com 256-656-1924 -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of OK Don Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2008 10:00 PM To: Mercedes Discussion List Subject: [MBZ] OT - home hot and cold water filters I'm about to replace a lot of plumbing in the house (tub/shower faucet, hot water tank, kitchen sink/faucet, etc.) and am thinking that filtering all the water, rather than just the little drinking water faucet would be a good thing. I don't see much about filtering the hot water, other than for sediment/grit, or "hot water protector" filters. I'm not sure this is a good thing - though it might be better than nothing? "It sequesters the hardness ions thus inhibiting them from precipitating out of the water to create scale. Scale can decrease your hot water efficiency by 30 - 40%. Also the siliphos reacts with the hardness carbonate to secrete a thin glass-like coating on the interior metal surfaces thus protecting from corrosion." http://www.kleenwater.com/cuno-aquapure-ap430ss-hot-water-protector-p-69.htm l Then there's the "Rio-Vita Chlorine Shower Water Filter" that "is effective in removing chlorine and other harmful contaminants by employing oxidation / reduction (redox) technology *. Be assured that this media will remove contaminants that harm / dry skin and hair and also can be unhealthy as a result of inhalation or trans-dermal absorption." http://www.kleenwater.com/riovita-chlorine-shower-water-filter-p-91.html I'm leaning towards a stainless canister with one of these filter elements - http://www.kleenwater.com/good-25-x-10-inch-matrikx-carbon-block-cartridges- p-71.html Anyone BTDT? -- OK Don, KD5NRO Norman, OK "There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games." - Ernest Hemingway '90 300D (Rattled), '92 300D (Saber), ''97 Ply Grand Voyager (Vincent van-go) _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com No virus found in this incoming message.
