Don,

A software client of mine is a major water filter distributor. I suggest you
check with them before buying any water filters. They all sell the same
stuff and Mark Powers has been in the business for many years.

I wrote this article for them & posted it on their web site, which is also
my design.

Subject: [MBZ] OT - home hot and cold water filters

I'm about to replace a lot of plumbing in the house (tub/shower
faucet, hot water tank, kitchen sink/faucet, etc.) and am thinking
that filtering all the water, rather than just the little drinking
water faucet would be a good thing.
I don't see much about filtering the hot water, other than for
sediment/grit, or "hot water protector" filters.
I'm not sure this is a good thing - though it might be better than nothing?

"It sequesters the hardness ions thus inhibiting them from
precipitating out of the water to create scale. Scale can decrease
your hot water efficiency by 30 - 40%. Also the siliphos reacts with
the hardness carbonate to secrete a thin glass-like coating on the
interior metal surfaces thus protecting from corrosion."

Then there's the "Rio-Vita Chlorine Shower Water Filter" that "is
effective in removing chlorine and other harmful contaminants by
employing oxidation / reduction (redox) technology *. Be assured that
this media will remove contaminants that harm / dry skin and hair and
also can be unhealthy as a result of inhalation or trans-dermal
absorption."

I'm leaning towards a stainless canister with one of these filter
elements -

Anyone BTDT?
