Here is how the bowls & playoffs should work.
BCS top 16 teams play 1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15 on so on. Beginning the first
Saturday in December they play in the following bowls;
Capital One, Gator, Cotton, Outback, Chick-fil-A, Insight, Sun, Liberty.
Now, the winners play same format, highest rank vs. lowest rank in the Rose,
Orange, Sugar & Fiesta Bowls the 2nd Saturday in December.
The "final four" cities bid years in advance for 2 games the following 3rd
Saturday.
The Championship Game is played at the highest ranked home teams stadium the
next Saturday.
This entire process is over in 4 weeks as opposed to the present structure
and we have a true National Champion. It really is simple.
The other 17 meaningless bowl games can pick up the leftovers from BCS #17
down.

Of course, it could get really screwy if Oklahoma beats Texas Tech. There
will be a three way tie in the Big 12 South. Under Big 12 rules there are
5 tie breakers. None of the first 4 will break the tie. The fifth is
higher bcs ranking. So, the stupid calculus that the Big 12 uses will
keep out two 11-1 teams based on the human polls (2/3 of the value and 1/3
computers). It might not matter if Mizzou beats the Big 12 South team.
So, then you have two 11-1 Big 12 teams who did not win their conference
(or their division) who are not playing in the National Championship.
Screwy.
