I have a 76 Eldo, it is way cool but a real POS build-wise. The motor and front drive were RV parts, so they are pretty stout. 2000 Suburban, 135k no troubles really except the rear lift glass blew out (who designed the hinges bonded to glass and the other half not lined up well on the body?). 96 pickup, was dad's, only 40k or so miles on it now, great truck. 98 Deville, looks new, rides like a dream, runs very well, 50k miles, great mileage. 75 Grand Prix, 83 little pickup (marginal), 71 Monte Carlo (wish I still had it), 67 Skylark (wish I still had it), 71 Bonneville, 66 Bonneville 389-4bbl (that was the car I learned to drive in WOWEEE!), others I can't completely recall. Not the best cars, but never really any problems with them.

Anyone (other than me) have any recent experience with GM cars? Yes, I know
Hursty - you are on your own personal crusade against GM for the bad design of
the timing chain on your Saturn. Anyone else?

All of this GM bashing is interesting to me as a former GM Service Manager.
Most of it sounds like hyperbole or is based on 30 year old data or urban
legend or somebody's brother in law's cousin's stepsister's co-worker.

I loved my old 1971 250. But, I was thrilled to get my Oldsmobile Delta 88
after driving the old 250 for 3 years. See the oldsmobile had a few
advantages: the seats weren't shot, the carburetors didn't cost a fortune to
fix, my 2 ton Oldsmobile land yacht got a LOT better gas mileage and everything
wasn't falling apart around the engine (which eventually blew up).

I wonder if I would have judged all Mercedes on that car, if I would ever buy
another one?
