I too have noticed over the years that 123 240D's feel MUCH slower than
115 versions. Talking about autos, not sticks. Same probably applies
though.

On the other hand, the 77 240D (W123, manual) was

is heavier than the W123, at least it feels that way.
I drove another W123 240D the other day and it was a
slug, although the owner crowed about its strong
motor. But I know of at least one 240D that isn't
slow.
