no, i did when i got caught working on a lock. some professor saw me and called security. my defense was that some of us really enjoy being there and the locks hindered this enjoyment. there was no real trouble in exchange for me vowing to leave the tunnels alone forever, which i did. we simply moved our activities into the old abandoned buildings.
a lot of us came of age in the 70s, the golden age of anarchy and destruction. if you saw something you wanted and you couldn't buy it or didn't want to buy it, you just stole it and never gave it a second thought. when you took the subway, you waited for the train to be approaching and you jumped the turnstile. didn't matter that you had a subway token and money in your pocket, you just jumped it. and the poor woman locked up behind the bullet proof glass in the token booth could only just yell "pay your fare! pay your fare" the only people who kept any order at all in the city was the mafia and you NEVER messed with them. there was no stealing in bensonhurst! i'm glad those days of anarchy are over. you don't see this kind of stuff going on anymore. not very happy with arbitrary state fascism that have replaced it either, but at least you are petty safe in NYC today. last time i was there i saw scandanavian looking tourists walking on 110th street in harlem after dark and walking into central park. in the 70s, this would have been classified as a "suicide" when they never came back out.
