I almost snag a cube this week. Woman came into the Apple Store while
I was there and was trading in her cube for a new mac. Since the
store does not take the old stuff, but was probably going to transfer
her data, I could not convince her to allow me to give it a new home
until after. Will see if she calls

I realize we're talking NeXT, but for Cube wanna-be's it's not a bad

In fact, Cubes will run the earlier versions of OS X, I believe, and
with enough RAM and an upgraded video card aren't bad machines.
As an aside, I saw one of the first Cubes demoed for an educational
customer back in 2000. The guy was in the middle of rendering some
video he had just captured using the OS 9 version of iMovie.
Without warning, the thing just burst into flames - literally! I
felt sorry for him, but found it humorous as well....
I was just using my G4 Quicksilver a little while ago. Something
about using a vintage machine that's just, well, fun.

I am going to do a deep recon of the
surplus shop. Did early research from a NeXT nut and
it needs all the NeXT label cables. Where you get
software is another issue. I looked into that
online. Not into $995 for a 4 gig drive loaded with
NeXT Step 3.3. Bound to find the cables and other
stuff. If not, Ed gets first dibs. But you have
to come get it along with a 108/110/111 trailer queen.
