Chain, tensioner, guides, etc., were replaced when chain broke 101 kmi ago;
yesterday, chain and only the upper guide on driver side were replaced.
When I picked up the car, I was curious to see what damage there was on the
removed guide; he said it was at "bottom of nearly full trash can, and
damage was nearly nil, but went ahead and replaced it 'cause it was easy and
I had the guide there" for 'im.

Wilton,
did he change out the plastic rail guides as well? My 86 560SL had a
good chain but found the guides were broken when we lifted the valve
covers. Oh wait, maybe the diesel engines don't have these? Dunno.
