Looks like the perfect opportunity for powering a small internally regulated
alternator. Can't be much though - a large alternator will choke the engine.
Then you need a deep cycle marine as a buffer and a power inverter and you
have a "emergency generator set" to run a few lights in the house.

Subject: [MBZ] OT -- what to do with a go-cart engine

Have a small gasoline engine from an old go-cart. It's a Tecumseh with a
horizontal crankshaft. Was thinking about pairing it up with a generator to
have a small mobile power source, but not sure how easy it will be to govern
the engine to run at the proper RPMs. Any ideas?
