Thanks for the reassurance, guys. The front bearings do seem to naturally get neglected. The shop manual maintenance check list does not list repacking and adjusting the front wheel bearings. I guess the manual writters assume it gets done when the disks are replaced? And the disks are not replaced very often on cars that are driven long highway miles.
