Randy,
For your usage I'd say stick with conventional oil. With a 617 engine and no
additional filtering you can't do extended change intervals which is one of the
big reasons to use M1. The other is for easier cold starts but you don't drive
your car in the winter...
If you did drive your car in the winter a block heater and/or (since you get
serious cold) an oil pan heater would do the job to get you going.
I've been using Delvac 1300 in my 240D.

I don't see much choice in Mobil 1 here but when I go over the border into the
USA, I always look at WalMart to see
what they have.
Do I need to worry about the coding on the jugs or is any reasonably heavy
Mobil 1 going to be ok for my old 300D?
So far, I have just stuck with the Shell Rotella oil.
