thats why you always check the compresson of the engine on the ground before you even go to install it. BillR wrote: The first engine was one that the seller 'knew the car personally and it ran great'. He lied somewhere in there. Mechanic has a diesel compression setup, but only for installed engines. That second engine came with a complete check-out and full compression test printed out showing 365 lbs / cylinder from Potomac German. All I could have done is taken my small knowledge of MB diesels to the parts supplier [third engine came from Maryland] and requested they do it again with me watching. I wouldn't have known any more than I did. Perhaps the indy doing the checks was having a lazy day. Engine #3 came from the sellers personal car [Potomac German employee] and he says it runs as it should and he changed the oil every 3k. I have had to trust my mechanic [AutoWorx in Melbourne], a very good choice; and trust the suppliers, a bad and questionable choice. I love the car enough that I will be happy if my $4500 gives me a good and reliable car. It is my sincere hope that this engine outlasts me, and with my updated plumbing I plan to stick around for awhile. BillR Jacksonville FL 300SD EM 265K / 200K engine - maybe
