When you say the passlock is failing, do you mean, the security light is coming on and sometimes it won't start? if so, the first thing (and cheapest and easiest thing to do) is to go to the dealer and get a new key. Sometimes it is the little chip in the key. BUT, most of the time, it is the problem is related to the small wires running through the column that feed into the back of the ignition switch. As the wheel turns and the tilt wheel gets used, the wires tend to fray. USUALLY, this is the problem. and you have to replace the whole ignition switch lock tumblers and all. let me know if that is the problem you are having, I may be able to give you a better diagnostic procedure.
